Collection Installation at 8Shires Distillery
SPIRITS Museum cares for an expanding collection of 19 artifacts related to colonial era distillation used for science, medicine, perfume, and consumption. Currently, the collection can be viewed in a dedicated exhibition space at Eight Shires Coloniale distillery, where our reference library is also available to researchers. Eight Shires is a long-time partner of SPIRITS, providing a physical viewing space and support for partial applied archeological research, which is available to all collaborators.
The installation can be viewed with an appointment during business hours, Tuesday through Saturday from 1-7 PM, and tours from on-site experts are available upon request. These tours offer sustainable community learning and sensory experiences led by knowledgeable partners through Eight Shires Coloniale Distillery. The goal is to provide a deeper educational aspect to the collective understanding of the history of distillation, and allow visitors to see applied archeological research in action by experiencing 8Shires distilling methods in person.
